Helping families
understand Medicare, life insurance, and the decisions that matter.
I work with older adults, retirees, caregivers, and families
who have questions about Medicare, life insurance, and final expense planning.
Some people are getting ready for Medicare. Others have had coverage for years
but don't fully understand it. And sometimes, people just need someone to
explain things without making them feel rushed.
I know what that confusion feels like because I've been
there myself.
I started blogging in 2022, but I wasn't writing about
insurance in the beginning.
I'd spent more than 30 years working with computers,
databases, and technical systems. So some of my first articles were about
things I knew, like choosing a good computer or learning how to use Pinterest.
My business, MCS Technical Solutions LLC, came from that part of my life.
Then, in 2023, I spent five days in the hospital after
experiencing sudden heart failure. Lying in that hospital bed, I had to face
something I hadn't given enough attention to: what was I actually leaving
behind for my family? I'd spent years working and taking care of
responsibilities, but I wasn't building the kind of legacy I wanted to leave.
Looking around my community, I saw the same pattern. People
were working hard, taking care of everybody else, and putting off important
conversations about their own future.
As I moved into the insurance industry, I discovered just
how confusing Medicare, Medicaid, and life insurance could be. I'm no stranger
to figuring out complicated systems. But knowing how to research something and
understanding what it means for your family are two different things. If I had
questions, I knew other people did too.
Today, most of what I publish focuses on Medicare updates,
health and life insurance education, and final expense planning. My technology
background is still part of who I am. Better Family Legacy simply grew into
something that brings both sides together. And I have plenty more to write
about.
I've sat in people's homes, reviewed their coverage, and
spent 90 minutes or more answering questions. Sometimes I leave without writing
an application, and that's okay. If someone's current coverage meets their
needs, I have no reason to tell them to change it.
I've also helped older adults work through applications and
questions involving Medicaid, Medicare Savings Programs, and Extra Help with
prescription drug costs. Those experiences remind me that sometimes the most
useful thing I can offer is information, patience, and a little help
understanding the next step.

Everything I share here is for general education. My
articles are not personalized insurance, medical, legal, or financial advice.
Medicare rules, benefits, eligibility, and costs change, and

I don't claim to have every answer. I research, verify, keep
