What is Artificial Intelligence peek into what you need to know

Artificial intelligence in Layman’s Terms

It is studying how to make computers that can think and learn like humans. What is artificial intelligence? They are better known as intelligent machines. Artificial Intelligence is not just about making computers and machines more intelligent but also about making them more useful and practical.  This is a positive point: an AI machine is programmed and used to solve complex problems.

Yes, I said, “an AI machine is programmed” a human being programs this intelligent machine. One with extensive machine learning and coding knowledge to exist.  From the beginning, computers, conceived by Charles Babbage, a mathematician, and mechanical engineer, required an understanding of calculus, statistics and probability, complex algebra functions and linear equations, and other advanced mathematics. Interested in knowing the math skills required for Artificial intelligence? Here is all the math you need to know.

That is where machine learning comes in.  This means that once someone programs the computer, it will take in more data and analyze it. It will then network with other computers, analyze the data again, and generate a decision or output.  The machine continues this process while learning from its mistakes or miscalculations. It continues to add to data initially programmed (by a human) and does it repeatedly. It’s machine learning!

My understanding of deep learning is when the machine figures out how to recognize patterns from the data it continues to gather and analyze.  This is off the point, but remember the series “Person of Interest?”  One of the main characters was “The Machine.”  It eventually started to take over the show!

What are the Benefits of Artificial Intelligence?

AI is already in our day-to-day lives and is used in many different fields. It’s in retail, manufacturing, healthcare, education, transportation, journalism, and more. AI can make our lives easier by taking on tasks we may consider tedious, like data entry or customer service. You may consider replying to a text message tedious.

Speaking of replying to text messages, I recently purchased a new iPhone after having my old cell phone for 7 years.  Imagine my surprise when “Siri” reads a text message I received to me, and I responded out loud, not too nicely, and “Siri” (listening) repeats what I said back to me and asks, “do you want to send this response” or something like that.  That’s a big no thank you, please, Siri!  So helpful, but that’s artificial intelligence for you.

This feature comes in handy if I receive a text message that I want to respond to while driving. Also, the “Maps” app will suggest a destination based on the time I’m leaving and the direction I go.  Yes, artificial intelligence is here to stay.

How will AI Help in Your Business?

No matter how you do business, customer service is always an aspect of your business. Regarding customer service, most companies are in this room, “the room for improvement.”  AI can help a company provide fast, efficient solutions to customers’ issues.  Another aspect of many businesses is security. AI will help a company with various security issues starting with protecting customers’ personal or sensitive information online. I encourage you to look for new tools in your trade or field that include artificial intelligence. This will help your business improve and give your customers memorable experiences that will keep them returning.

The Future of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is a broad and complicated field, and it is here for the duration. There are many different types of artificial intelligence, meaning many other avenues to business success. Some may think that AI will replace many jobs, and it just might. That has been and will always be the case when there is innovation, then change. Some will lose jobs, but others will find employment in artificial intelligence's future. As we move into the Web 3.0 space, let’s embrace the change and research unfamiliar topics such as Blockchain and artificial intelligence. See the article, “What is Blockchain.” To quote Scar from “The Lion King”:  BE PREPARED!!!
